Neighbors Serving Neighbors
Bringing you affordable and cutting edge Voice, Video, Data, and Security services in southeastern North Carolina.
Our History
In 1959, two smaller cooperatives merged with the Department of Agriculture’s help to form the Star Telephone Membership Corporation. Star, a nonprofit cooperative owned and operated by its members, prioritizes providing affordable, high-quality communication services. Headquartered in Clinton, North Carolina, we understand rural needs and serve tight-knit farming communities.
Despite the region’s slower pace, we offer cutting-edge technology like fully redundant fiber-optic rings and 100 percent high-speed internet. Committed to our motto “Neighbors Serving Neighbors,” we invest in improving services for our members, customers, and local businesses, ensuring they thrive in the global economy.
What is a cooperative?
A cooperative is an association of people that are united voluntarily to meet common economic, social, and or cultural goals. Star Telephone is proud to be a cooperative because we are member owned, self-governed, created to serve, and driven by values. There are many benefits to becoming a member such as an invitation to the Annual Meeting, earning a stake in the company, gaining capital credit and more! If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact our business office at 1.800.706.6538 for more information.
